Important Safety Precautions:
⚠ WARNING
This tent meets the flammability requirements of CPAI-84. This tent is not fireproof. The fabric may burn if left in continuous contact with any flame source. The application of any foreign substance to the tent fabric may render the flame-resistant properties ineffective.
- Do NOT use candles, matches or other open flames in or near a tent.
- Exercise extreme caution: keep appliances away from the tent walls. Do NOT leave them unattended. Turn them off before going to sleep. Make sure the tent is well ventilated at all times to avoid suffocation.
- Build campfires downwind and several meters away from a tent. Extinguish campfires before leaving a campsite or going to sleep.
- Do NOT fuel lamps, heaters or stoves in a tent.
- Do NOT smoke in a tent.
- Do NOT store flammable liquids in a tent.
- Keep exits clear.
- Do NOT apply any foreign substance to a tent. It may diminish the flame resistant properties of tent material(s).
- Follow manufacturer’s instructions for safe appliance use.
General Setup Tips
- When planning to setup up a Basecamp™ paired with one or more accessories (Sled Shed™ or Vestibule), make sure the waterproof Sleet Sheet™ roof cover is attached.
- The Sled Shed™ accessory works with either Basecamp™ 660 or 980 size shelter.
- There are specific compatiblule Vestibule models to match the 660 and 980 size shelters.
- Before shelter takedown, you must detach and takedown all Sled Shed™ / Vestibule accessories (if applicable).
- The Sleet Sheet™ waterproof roof cover that comes with the Basecamp™ can remain on the shelter during takedown—ready for next time.
- We recommend removing the waterproof Sleet Sheet™ periodically, or after extended use to let it dry completely before longterm storage.
Setup Instructions
Basecamp™ Shelter Setup
- Remove the shelter from the bag and lay it flat out on the ice.
- Pull on the hub strap to pop out each side wall panel.
- Press upwards to pop out the roof panel(s) from inside the shelter.
- Secure the shelter with ice anchors through the grommets in the skirt, and stake out each hub with an anchor and carabiner strap attached to the hub eyelet.
- Insert the shock-corded spreader poles into the pockets with red tabs on all three sides of the primary full door entrance.
- Find the door side of the Sleet Sheet™ and position it over the entry.
- Attach the Sleet Sheet™ to the shelter at the door using the buckles.
- Loosely drag the Sleet Sheet™ over the roof to cover the rest of the shelter. NOTE: This is an easier task with help from another person.
- Buckle the remaining corners, then attach the matching perimeter hook-and-loop strips.
- Connect the Sleet Sheet™ to the shelter hub eyelets using the attached hooks.
Attaching the Sled Shed™
- Remove your Sled Shed™ from the bag.
- Detach the perimeter hook-and-loop that the Sleet Sheet™ roof cover uses at the rear of the shelter.
- Use the zippers on the shelter to attach the Sled Shed™, starting with the horizontal zipper at the top.
- Next, use the vertical zippers to finish attaching the Sled Shed™ on each side.
- Anchor the Sled Shed™ to the ice using the included ice anchors at the three grommet locations at the base.
Attaching the Vestibule
- Unroll the Vestibule flat onto the ice and locate the shock corded pole segments. NOTE: The hook-and-loop should always remain attached to the pole segments during setup.
- Assemble the attached shock corded pole segments to create the structure.
- Lay the assembled structure flat on the ice. The shock corded pole assembly should remain attached to the Vestibule.
- Position the Vestibule at the shelter entry and located the red webbed fabric tabs on both the Basecamp™ shelter and the Vestibule.
- Kneel to insert the end of the shock corded pole into the pin attached to the shelter skirt.
- Place the pin-connected pole into the shelter skirt pocket, then seal the hook-and-loop flap.
- Support the Vestibule and zip it onto the Sleet Sheet™ roof cover. NOTE: The Vestibule cannot be used without the Sleet Sheet™ roof cover attached.
- Repeat Steps 5 & 6 on the opposite side of the shelter to install the shock corded pole to the shelter skirt.
- Attach the hook-and-loop connection strips all around the Vestibule to seal it to the Sleet Sheet™.
- Anchor each corner using the attached grommet tabs to tension the Vestibule.
Takedown Instructions
Detaching the Vestibule
- Remove all ice anchors, detach the hook-and-loop flaps, and unzip the Vestibule from the Sleet Sheet™ roof cover.
- Detach the shock corded poles from the pins in the shelter skirt.
- Flip the Vestibule skin inside out and lay it flat on the ice. NOTE: The hook-and-loop should always remain attached to the pole segments, even during takedown.
- Disassemble the shock corded frame pole and lay the pole sections inward. Fold the fabric flat, onto itself.
- Roll up the Vestibule and attach the cinching strap around it to secure it.
- Place the Vestibule in the carry bag, and store ice anchors in the bag pockets.
Detaching the Sled Shed™
- Remove all ice anchors, detach the upper hook-and-loop, and unzip the Sled Shed™ from the Basecamp™ shelter at the top and sides.
- Lay the Sled Shed™ completely flat on the ice.
- Fold the outside panel flaps inward so it lays upon itself in a square shape.
- Fold this square in half over itself, then fold it in half again in the same direction. NOTE: The folded width should now match the depth of the carry bag.
- Fold the Sled Shed™ multiple times along the length to match the carry bag width (similar to a rolling behavior but folding). Once the size matches the carry bag, put it in the bag.
- Put ice anchors into the cinching tie bag before placing this in the carry bag as well to prevent damage to your Sled Shed™ from the anchors.
Basecamp™ Shelter Takedown
- Remove all ice anchors and tie-down straps and return them to the carry bag for storage. Close all doors, windows, and vents. Remove any full door entry frame poles (including the spreader pole at the top). NOTE: You can leave the Sleet Sheet™ roof cover attached for next time.
- From inside the shelter, pull down on the roof hub area to collapse roof panel(s).
- Push inward on the center hub area of each wall panel to collapse them. The shelter should now naturally fall towards the ice.
- Gather the hubs together and untangle any poles as necessary to get the shelter laying flat on the ice.
- Collect each fabric section and lay them to one side of the gathered hubs. Roll the gathered hubs over the collected fabric to compress the overall size.
- Wrap and cinch the compressed shelter with an included tie down strap, then place the shelter into the carry bag.
